Pertoleum products (including mineral oil) are derived from fossil fuels. Water-based lotions require chemical preservatives! Yuck! Check the ingredients on your lotions, then check ours. We use 100% natural butters, oils and wax in our formulas.

Dings happen! In your gear box or bag, you should always be prepared for a ding. Water and a dinged up board can lead to a variety of problems all of which will ruin your board. Ding tapes look like clear packaging tape, but they are not. There is quite a few on the market and Dilgo Surf likes Phix Doctor's ding tape. Phix Doctor makes packs with a variety of sizes. You can't make a small one bigger, so Dilgo Surf carries the large SUP size which can be cut into smaller patches.
Some companies make dig tape in a roll, but we don't recommend it. The tape stretches as you unroll a piece and you have to handle like packaging tape getting oils from your fingers on it, then when you apply it it won't stick as well and then it may return to its original shape.
Ding tape should only be used on cracks and should be properly repaired when you reach land if necessary. Some DIlgos have tape on some boards for years!
Big cracks and gauges should be patched with a resin repair kit.

The rules for waxing your board are relatively simple; cool board, warm wax. If you are at the beach and your board is hot from the sun, all you're going to do is scrape off the wax that is already on your board. Shade your board (we have a solution coming soon) or bring it into the water to cool and let your wax warm up before applying.

Safety first. Beginners and intermediate surfers should always wear a leash. If your advanced, you may need to wear one soon as legislation is floating around somewhere to make it mandatory. Leashes come in a variety of colors and thicknesses in the cords and cuffs. There are so many manufacturers of leashes and most are the same. Spend the money on a better leash. Better leashes will have multiple pivot points to help prevent entanglement. If you want the best - XM Surf More has what you want and we got them!
The Dilgo Surf leash of choice is XM's tangle free leash. The concept is they have a rubber coated grommet on the cord which slides around. The idea is the weight of the grommet sinks the leash in the water so it is less likely to tangle. If you have ever gotten tangled up, you know what we mean. If the tangle free leash cuts that number down, you just got more waves.
Dilgo Surf will carry the comp leash (thinner and lighter) and regular cord version.
Keeping your center fin in place is crucial. There are some fins that just pop into your fin box, but based on testimonials from local shapers, they can fall out. Stick to the tried and true fin screws.
There are currently 3 types that are available; flat head, hex and thumb screws. The flat head screws are horrible to screw in and out.

There are currently 3 types that are available; flat head, hex and thumb screws. The flat head screws are horrible to screw in and out. The hex heads are good, but you need to have a fin key handy. If you choose either of these 2 options, make sure not to overtighten the screw or you can crack your fin box.
The 3rd option is the best - the thumb screw. The thumb screw only requires your fingers to tighten. They have a rubber grommet to help hold your screw in and prevent overtightening.
The best thumb screws are our online shop!

The Dilgo Surf Eraser makes removing wax from your board easier. After you scrape (check out the flexicomb) or use the sun to remove the thick stuff, the Eraser will take your wax off down to the board. You just took your board off the roof or out of the bag or sock and – yikes! There’s wax on the bottom or on the rails. Hit it with the Dilgo Surf Eraser at the beach. You’ll go faster (it’s physics).
1) Use a wax scraper, plastic spackle knife, your old Blockbuster Video card or the warm sun to get as much of the chunky globs of wax off, as much as possible. The more you remove first, the better and easier the Eraser will work.
2) Rub the Eraser on the remaining wax with pressure in a circular motion. (Don’t be shy, get on it! It won’t hurt your board.) Flip your Eraser around when using to avoid wax buildup. Use a wax scraper/comb with it.
Wherever you wax your board, you should have a Dilgo Surf Eraser.

There are lots of ways to get wax off your board, but every surfer should have a wax scraper/comb. They come in so many shapes and styles you may be tempted to grab the first one you see. There are lots of ways to get wax off your board, but every surfer should have a wax scraper/comb. They come in so many shapes and styles you may be tempted to grab the first one you see. But hold on! The Flexcomb is the best one we have ever used. It is not a stiff plastic like most. It bends so you get better contact with the surface of your board. The feel is different! Whatever makes it "flexi", gives it a softer feel, therefore more comfortable to hold than any other scraper/comb factor I can find. If I could make you a better one myself, I would! So, I got them for you. A leash cord included for you too.
Get one for your house and one for your vehicle.
